How we transÂformed a fragÂmentÂed digÂiÂtal presÂence into a uniÂfied and perÂforÂmant B2B ecosysÂtem for a SpanÂish marÂket leader

IGT is a trustÂed name in Spain’s hosÂpiÂtalÂiÂty secÂtor, for their robust softÂware and hardÂware soluÂtions that keep restauÂrants, hotels, and enterÂtainÂment venues operÂatÂing effiÂcientÂly. Their prodÂucts span from advanced POS sysÂtems and waitÂer manÂageÂment tools to barÂcodes, ATMs, and infraÂstrucÂture hardware.
The SumÂmaÂry
The comÂpaÂny’s online presÂence had been dividÂed between a corÂpoÂrate webÂsite on WordÂPress — which said litÂtle about their real capaÂbilÂiÂties — and an ecomÂmerce B2B store on Prestashop, which failed to meet the needs of their client base, offered a poor user expeÂriÂence, and had limÂitÂed inteÂgraÂtion with their operÂaÂtional systems.
With interÂnaÂtionÂal growth and operÂaÂtional effiÂcienÂcy in focus, IGT required a digÂiÂtal ecosysÂtem capaÂble of delivÂerÂing a modÂern expeÂriÂence, funcÂtionÂalÂly inteÂgratÂed with core sysÂtems, that could reflect the credÂiÂbilÂiÂty of a cerÂtiÂfied ISO9001 provider.
And that’s where we came in. But first:
The ChalÂlenge
IGT approached us after a digÂiÂtal transÂforÂmaÂtion attempt with anothÂer partÂner that fell short. We were tasked with resÂcuÂing the project, rebuildÂing the corÂpoÂrate site and the B2B store from scratch, and — most imporÂtantÂly — inteÂgratÂing everyÂthing directÂly with their SAP ByDeÂsign ERP. The goal: real-time data syncÂing between their busiÂness logÂic and the BigÂComÂmerce platÂform, givÂing cusÂtomers a clear, easy porÂtal to manÂage orders, invoicÂes, and serÂvice requests.
The Approach
It was more than a migraÂtion. The project required an extremeÂly cusÂtomized inteÂgraÂtion layÂer, enhanceÂments to BigCommerce’s native feaÂtures, and a masÂsive UI/UX revamp to align the brand’s online presÂence with its repÂuÂtaÂtion in the hosÂpiÂtalÂiÂty sector.
We set out to:
- UniÂfy the corÂpoÂrate webÂsite and B2B store on a sinÂgle, scalÂable platform.
- InteÂgrate all digÂiÂtal touchÂpoints directÂly with IGT’s SAP ByDeÂsign ERP for real-time data flow.
- DelivÂer a user expeÂriÂence that aligns with IGT’s repÂuÂtaÂtion and ISO certification.
- Future-proof the sysÂtem for ongoÂing growth and conÂtinÂuÂous integration.
The Solution(s)
We migratÂed both the IGT corÂpoÂrate site and the B2B ecomÂmerce store to BigÂComÂmerce, introÂducÂing AluÂmio, a midÂdleÂware layÂer that acts as a fast, intelÂliÂgent bridge between BigÂComÂmerce and SAP ByDeÂsign.
- Real-time orders & staÂtusÂes. CusÂtomers can track whether an order has been acceptÂed, shipped, or rejectÂed — data drawn directÂly from SAP.
- Beyond the basics. Since BigÂComÂmerce doesn’t proÂvide fields for transÂport details or mulÂtiÂple invoice refÂerÂences, we develÂoped cusÂtomizaÂtions to bring in this misÂsion-critÂiÂcal inforÂmaÂtion from SAP.
- Fast, forÂward. SAP is known for being powÂerÂful but heavy, with raw queries someÂtimes takÂing up to 90 secÂonds. To reduce latenÂcy, our midÂdleÂware runs preÂvenÂtive calls and caches data, transÂformÂing comÂplex logÂic into results disÂplayed in 3 – 4 secÂonds withÂin the portal.
- Post-sales flows. We inteÂgratÂed JotÂform for RMA requests, ensurÂing every supÂport tickÂet is routÂed autoÂmatÂiÂcalÂly to the right departÂment — with future plans for direct SAP integration.
- Data migraÂtion. All existÂing accounts, comÂpaÂny records, price lists, and prodÂuct catÂaÂlogs were meticÂuÂlousÂly migratÂed and refacÂtored to fit BigCommerce’s modÂern archiÂtecÂture. This ensured conÂtiÂnuÂity for IGT’s clients and minÂiÂmized disÂrupÂtion durÂing the transition.
We gave the corÂpoÂrate webÂsite a comÂplete design overÂhaul: responÂsive layÂouts, ISO-aligned cerÂtiÂfiÂcaÂtions, and a brand lanÂguage that finalÂly comÂmuÂniÂcates IGT’s decades of authorÂiÂty in hosÂpiÂtalÂiÂty techÂnolÂoÂgy.

Speed and Sound
The project not only resÂcued a stalled iniÂtiaÂtive but also strengthÂened IGT’s relaÂtionÂship with hosÂpiÂtalÂiÂty clients throughÂout Spain and beyond.
The new platÂform offers users a betÂter expeÂriÂence and greater autonÂoÂmy, a capaÂbilÂiÂty the preÂviÂous soluÂtion lacked. It also expands and optiÂmizes IGT’s online sales chanÂnels to fit their mulÂtiÂchanÂnel stratÂeÂgy, fillÂing anothÂer critÂiÂcal gap in the forÂmer setup.
Plus, it saves them monÂey, both in the form of countÂless hours that would have been lost to triÂal and error, and in the form of actuÂal monÂey that would have gone into othÂer (more expenÂsive and comÂplex) options offered by SAP.
It’s a great examÂple of how smart cusÂtom inteÂgraÂtions and thoughtÂful design can extend BigÂComÂmerce’s capaÂbilÂiÂties, thus makÂing even the most comÂplex B2B workÂflow feel simÂple and run smooth.
