How we trans­formed a frag­ment­ed dig­i­tal pres­ence into a uni­fied and per­for­mant B2B ecosys­tem for a Span­ish mar­ket leader

IGT is a trust­ed name in Spain’s hos­pi­tal­i­ty sec­tor, for their robust soft­ware and hard­ware solu­tions that keep restau­rants, hotels, and enter­tain­ment venues oper­at­ing effi­cient­ly. Their prod­ucts span from advanced POS sys­tems and wait­er man­age­ment tools to bar­codes, ATMs, and infra­struc­ture hardware.

The Sum­ma­ry

The com­pa­ny’s online pres­ence had been divid­ed between a cor­po­rate web­site on Word­Press — which said lit­tle about their real capa­bil­i­ties — and an ecom­merce B2B store on Prestashop, which failed to meet the needs of their client base, offered a poor user expe­ri­ence, and had lim­it­ed inte­gra­tion with their oper­a­tional systems.

With inter­na­tion­al growth and oper­a­tional effi­cien­cy in focus, IGT required a dig­i­tal ecosys­tem capa­ble of deliv­er­ing a mod­ern expe­ri­ence, func­tion­al­ly inte­grat­ed with core sys­tems, that could reflect the cred­i­bil­i­ty of a cer­ti­fied ISO9001 provider.

And that’s where we came in. But first:

The Chal­lenge

IGT approached us after a dig­i­tal trans­for­ma­tion attempt with anoth­er part­ner that fell short. We were tasked with res­cu­ing the project, rebuild­ing the cor­po­rate site and the B2B store from scratch, and — most impor­tant­ly — inte­grat­ing every­thing direct­ly with their SAP ByDe­sign ERP. The goal: real-time data sync­ing between their busi­ness log­ic and the Big­Com­merce plat­form, giv­ing cus­tomers a clear, easy por­tal to man­age orders, invoic­es, and ser­vice requests.


The Approach

It was more than a migra­tion. The project required an extreme­ly cus­tomized inte­gra­tion lay­er, enhance­ments to BigCommerce’s native fea­tures, and a mas­sive UI/UX revamp to align the brand’s online pres­ence with its rep­u­ta­tion in the hos­pi­tal­i­ty sector.


We set out to:

  • Uni­fy the cor­po­rate web­site and B2B store on a sin­gle, scal­able platform.
  • Inte­grate all dig­i­tal touch­points direct­ly with IGT’s SAP ByDe­sign ERP for real-time data flow.
  • Deliv­er a user expe­ri­ence that aligns with IGT’s rep­u­ta­tion and ISO certification.
  • Future-proof the sys­tem for ongo­ing growth and con­tin­u­ous integration.


The Solution(s)

We migrat­ed both the IGT cor­po­rate site and the B2B ecom­merce store to Big­Com­merce, intro­duc­ing Alu­mio, a mid­dle­ware lay­er that acts as a fast, intel­li­gent bridge between Big­Com­merce and SAP ByDe­sign.
 

  • Real-time orders & sta­tus­es. Cus­tomers can track whether an order has been accept­ed, shipped, or reject­ed — data drawn direct­ly from SAP.
  • Beyond the basics. Since Big­Com­merce doesn’t pro­vide fields for trans­port details or mul­ti­ple invoice ref­er­ences, we devel­oped cus­tomiza­tions to bring in this mis­sion-crit­i­cal infor­ma­tion from SAP.
  • Fast, for­ward. SAP is known for being pow­er­ful but heavy, with raw queries some­times tak­ing up to 90 sec­onds. To reduce laten­cy, our mid­dle­ware runs pre­ven­tive calls and caches data, trans­form­ing com­plex log­ic into results dis­played in 3 – 4 sec­onds with­in the portal.
  • Post-sales flows. We inte­grat­ed Jot­form for RMA requests, ensur­ing every sup­port tick­et is rout­ed auto­mat­i­cal­ly to the right depart­ment — with future plans for direct SAP integration.
  • Data migra­tion. All exist­ing accounts, com­pa­ny records, price lists, and prod­uct cat­a­logs were metic­u­lous­ly migrat­ed and refac­tored to fit BigCommerce’s mod­ern archi­tec­ture. This ensured con­ti­nu­ity for IGT’s clients and min­i­mized dis­rup­tion dur­ing the transition.

We gave the cor­po­rate web­site a com­plete design over­haul: respon­sive lay­outs, ISO-aligned cer­ti­fi­ca­tions, and a brand lan­guage that final­ly com­mu­ni­cates IGT’s decades of author­i­ty in hos­pi­tal­i­ty tech­nol­o­gy.

The new IGT plat­form is a robust, reli­able dig­i­tal ecosys­tem that final­ly match­es the company’s stature as a mar­ket leader. The B2B por­tal now offers customers:

  • A con­sol­i­dat­ed dig­i­tal plat­form that match­es their rep­u­ta­tion and ambition.
  • Real-time vis­i­bil­i­ty into orders and invoices.
  • Faster inter­ac­tions, thanks to our caching and mid­dle­ware strate­gies to reduce data retrieval times from over a minute to just seconds.
  • A mod­ern user expe­ri­ence, with a ful­ly redesigned cor­po­rate site aligned with their ISO9001 certification.
  • Future-ready scal­a­bil­i­ty to keep grow­ing with their expand­ing ERP needs.

Speed and Sound

The project not only res­cued a stalled ini­tia­tive but also strength­ened IGT’s rela­tion­ship with hos­pi­tal­i­ty clients through­out Spain and beyond.

The new plat­form offers users a bet­ter expe­ri­ence and greater auton­o­my, a capa­bil­i­ty the pre­vi­ous solu­tion lacked. It also expands and opti­mizes IGT’s online sales chan­nels to fit their mul­ti­chan­nel strat­e­gy, fill­ing anoth­er crit­i­cal gap in the for­mer setup.

Plus, it saves them mon­ey, both in the form of count­less hours that would have been lost to tri­al and error, and in the form of actu­al mon­ey that would have gone into oth­er (more expen­sive and com­plex) options offered by SAP.
 

It’s a great exam­ple of how smart cus­tom inte­gra­tions and thought­ful design can extend Big­Com­merce’s capa­bil­i­ties, thus mak­ing even the most com­plex B2B work­flow feel sim­ple and run smooth.
