# SEO Migration 

Replatforming without an SEO migration plan is one of the most common and most expensive mistakes in ecommerce. URL structures change, redirects get missed, metadata disappears, internal links break, and Google notices before you do.

SEO migration handles them strategically: which URLs deserve a redirect at all, where each one points (not ​“homepage for everything”), what edge cases exist (faceted URLs, paginated archives, soft 404s), and what to do with metadata, schema, and canonical signals during the cutover. The two roles overlap less than people assume.

We already lost traffic in a previous migration. Can it be recovered?Often, yes. The first 30 days post-launch are the recovery window: missing redirects, broken canonicals, and dropped schema can be corrected before Google fully re-indexes against the new state.
